Integrative Meditation: An Intro to Meditation and Breath work

Come join us for a group meditation playshop, and learn a simple style of mindfulness meditation that adapts to any lifestyle, any spiritual belief system. Integrative Meditation includes and integrates insight (awareness of our lives and dramas), devotion (opening the heart), and healing (reducing stress, calming the mind).

"The great meditative traditions teach that the root cause of suffering and stress, which gives rise to your stories, is the belief that you're inherently separate - from others, from the rest of life, and from being itself . . . . Meditation offers you the opportunity to relax your guard, open your awareness, and ultimately catch a glimpse of who you really are, beyond your stories and the illusion of a separate, isolated self." Stephan Bodian, author of Meditation for Dummies

Practicing Presence: From Pain to Peace

As a culture, we are generally taught and shown how to look for whatever we are seeking outside of ourselves, often in the form of materials things, the past, or the future. In this playshop we will use guided meditations, discussion, and small group activities to go within, and explore the simple yet profound essence of healing and living: Being Present.

Ha Ha Yoga

Ha Ha Yoga is more about laughter and less about touching your toes (Ha Ha without the ouch!). Based on the Laughter clubs of India , this is an empowering and liberating opportunity to lighten our load, rejuvenate, and take a break from the seriousness of our human experience. We'll do a few basic yoga poses, discuss the healing aspects of smiling and laughter, and do some guided laughs (but spontaneous laughs will not be tolerated.)

Intro: Yoga, Meditation, Breath, Stress Release

Yoga is an all-inclusive, multi-dimensional healing art which includes poses, breathwork, meditation, and lifestyle choices to bring balance, strength, and flexibility on the physical level, calm and centering on the mental and emotional level, and greater self-awareness and clarity on the spiritual level. We will do gentle yoga poses, explore guided meditation and breathing, and discuss the basics and benefits of yoga.

Healing the Heart, of America

With Power Point, discussion and guided meditations, we will explore all aspects of healing, from personal to national, focusing on the roles of nutrtion, yoga, meditation, breathwork, exercise and other ways to heal physically, find emotional and mental centering, balance energetically, and awaken spiritually.

The Eight Limbs of Yoga

Come explore the 8 Limbs of yoga. According to Patanjali and the Yoga Sutras, this eightfold path is basically a guideline for living, which leads to the diminishment of suffering and the freeing of our Spirit. Includes an introduction to external behavior - our attitude towards the world (yamas), internal discipline (niyama), yoga poses (asana), breath work (pranayama), concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana), and the state of enlightenment or bliss (samadhi).

Zen Living Playshop: Life Mastering (or at least Less Misery!)

Ever notice how some people dance with challenges, grow with adversity, judge and resist nothing but accept everything as lessons and gifts? With discussion, activities, and guided meditations, we will practice seeing "enemies" as mirrors, making use of suffering, overcoming victim mentality, feeling our feelings, accepting our greatness, and surrendering to our true power, purpose and potential.

Overcoming Obstacles and Challenges

Ever notice how some people dance with challenges, grow with adversity, judge and resist nothing but accept everything as lessons and gifts? With discussion, activities, and guided meditations, we will practice seeing "enemies" as mirrors, making use of suffering, overcoming victim mentality, feeling our feelings, accepting our greatness, and surrendering to our true power, purpose and potential.

Yoga Kriyas Workshop

With guided meditation, small group discussion, examples and stories, we will explore the yoga sutra’s notion of Kriyas, the “Yoga of Action. The Kriyas focus on three aspects of healing: 1) Body / emotional purification, 2) insight or self-knowledge, and 3) devotion or spiritual beliefs. This is a fun way to explore and get to know ourselves, and learn how to heal on all levels.

Life Force Energy Playshop

Come learn about energy fields (auras), energy centers (chakras), and life-force energy (chi or prana). We will use guided meditations, games, and easy exercises to tune in to our energy, understand how healing occurs, and learn how to ground, calm ourselves down, increase the flow of life force energy through the body, and raise the energy vibration in the body. Also, learn some simple meditation, breathing, and boundary techniques.

Healing and Stress Release

Stressed? Anxious? Tired of struggling and swimming upstream? Fearful of your anger, or angry at your fear? Come learn about real healing, that is, tuning in to what we really need. Superficial healing – whether body, mind, or soul – skirts the edges, plays it safe, dodges the truth. We will use guided meditations and small group discussion and share quotes, stories and insights to help us discover the heart of healing. We will include some insights on nutrition, stress relief, emotions, yoga, meditation, and other healing supports. Come learn more about yourself, and how to move through rather than dance around our pain and problems.

Dancing in the Dark, Living in the Light

Come dance in the dark. Shine light into your shadows (more fun than you may think, and more effective than denial!) Come explore your shadow side in fun and wonderful ways - not to wallow in our "stuff", but to discover the loving essence of who we are at our core.

We'll use guided meditations to help us see, accept and embrace those aspects of ourselves we keep hidden. We will learn how to see others as mirrors for those parts of ourselves we have not accepted. Come seek the gems of light and love that lie beneath our branches, shaded but visible to those who seek.

Author Debbie Ford: “I believe that loving who we are is one of the most difficult yet vitally important tasks that each of us is given in this lifetime. Loving ourselves means loving all of who we are - the brilliant and the beautiful, the flawed and foolish, the selfless and self-absorbed, the courageous and fearful. It means loving, honoring, and accepting the totality of our humanity."

Opening the Emotional Energy Channels

“We cannot heal what we cannot feel” John Bradshaw

This playshop includes guided meditations, teachings, discussion, and small group activities to help us understand our emotions, release energy blocks, and heal old wounds. Whether you need to learn how to allow your emotions safely or to contain your emotions and learn appropriate boundaries, we will learn techniques to clear the energy channels.

CG Jung: "Emotion is the chief source of all becoming conscious. There can be no transforming of darkness into light and of apathy into movement without emotion."

Attracting Whatever You Desire by Being YourSelf

"Looking for Love before developing a strong sense of self is like trying to find the mate of a shoe you’ve never seen."
-- Martha Beck, Life Coach and monthly columnist at O: The Oprah Magazine.

People often say, "Just be yourself". Good advice, but who the heck are you, and how do you find out? Coming to this workshop is a good start. Being yourself is really about identifying what you are not: ego, mind, pain, fear, body, and releasing what is superfluous and harmful: grief, compulsions, jealousy. What is left is who you are, your essential, timeless, and joyful Self. Through guided meditations, discussion and some light yoga, we will access the pearl at the core.
